Our team at Arizona Smile Design isn’t just dedicated to keeping fully grown smiles healthy-- we’re also passionate about providing children with the tools and treatments they need to maintain good oral health while their teeth are still developing. We offer a variety of kid-friendly treatments to ward off the threat of cavities and other common issues. With our help, you’ll be able to continue enjoying your little one’s priceless grin.
The first visit that your child has to the dental office is the most important because it sets the tone for all future appointments. In an effort to make sure that your child develops a positive relationship with their oral health and hygiene, our team makes sure to create a fun, educational, and comfortable environment for them. We’ll also help them develop healthy at-home habits so they can avoid cavities in the future!
One of the most important pieces of protective gear that your child needs on the field is an athletic mouthguard. Without it, their jaw and teeth could be at risk of becoming broken or severely damaged, causing an unexpected visit to the ER or emergency dentist. We offer customized sportsguards to fit your little one’s unique teeth to provide them with optimal protection so they can stay safe and concentrate on the game.
If we notice that your child is starting to develop some dental decay, we can put out the fire with silver diamine fluoride. We’ll brush the antimicrobial liquid on their at-risk teeth to help stop the current cavities from developing any further. This approach is non-invasive, pain-free, affordable, and fast, so your child won’t have to spend too much time in the treatment chair.
We value the fact that each of our young patients has unique needs, which is why we strive to accommodate everyone that walks through our doors. Whether your little one has physical or mental limitations, our team at Arizona Smile Design is equipped with the knowledge to help them feel comfortable without sacrificing their quality of care. We take pride in being a friendly, patient, and accommodating team, so don’t hesitate to call us before the appointment to let us know about your child’s needs!
Many parents aren’t aware that their children have three thin tissues in their mouths that are necessary for easy feeding, speaking, and breathing. One is located under their tongue, which connects it to the floor of their mouth, and two others that attach the lips to the gums. When these are overgrown, they can make it difficult for your child to feed. Using our soft tissue laser, we can simply loosen or snip these troublesome tissues, providing your child with improved oral function and optimal comfort.
If your child is experiencing severe pain in a tooth or swelling and redness around it, it could be a sign that the inner nerve tissue, called the pulp, has been damaged and needs to be removed. While every situation is unique, we typically recommend pulp therapy to save the tooth and avoid an extraction. This is because when a child loses a primary tooth too soon, it could result in their adult ones growing in misaligned.
